Bogs are great places and are ideal for birds. Wading birds like Snipe, Golden Plover, and Curlew nest and feed in the boglands. In summer they probe into the soft peat looking for food. All day long the Skylark sings over the bog surface.

In winter bogs are feeding and roosting sites for Arctic geese known as Greenland white-fronted geese and for birds of prey such as the Kestrel and Merlin.

The Red Grouse spends its entire year on the open bogs, raising chicks in the summer months. They gather in family flocks in the Autumn, and overwinter on the bogs.

Anytime you visit a bog, the skylark sings.

Life begins on a bog for the Greenland White-fronted Goose chick.
