A very useful and colourful guide to various methods of home composting, with information on which materials to add and which materials to avoid adding. "Creating a Wildflower Meadow" (1999) by Yvette Verner. Green Books Ltd., Devon.

" Geoff Hamilton's Organic Gardening Pocket Encyclopedia" (1991). Dorling Kinderseley, London. A good reference guide for organic gardening methods including composting.

"Grow Your Own Vegetables" (2002) by Joy Larkhom. Frances Lincoln Ltd., London. A comprehensive guide to organic gardening methods with a good section on composting. Good for a thorough read or as a reference.

"IPCC Guide to Community Composting" (1997) by Peter Foss & Fiona Rice. IPCC, Dublin. A must read for anyone thinking of starting a local community composting scheme. Gives practical advice on getting a group together and setting up a committee to ensure success for the scheme. Also covers topics such as insurance and getting funding and publicity for the scheme. "Muck & Magic" (1995) by Jo Readman. Search Press/HDRA. A wonderful guide full of colour pictures and easy and exciting projects that makes organic gardening fun for children and adults alike! Available for 10Euro from IPCC's Enviro Shop. You can order online or by contacting IPCC by phone.

"The Small Ecological Garden" (1996) by Sue Stickland. Search Press/HDRA. A comprehensive and practical guide to creating and maintaing a wildlife garden with plenty of colour illustrations. Available for 13.95Euro from IPCC's Enviro Shop. You can order online or by contacting IPCC by phone.

"The Self-Sufficient Suburban Garden" (1983) by Jeff Ball. Rodale, USA. A little outdated, but still contains good advice and information on organic gardening and home composting.

"The Therapeutic Garden" (2001) by Donald Norfolk. Bantam Books, London. A very interesting book discussing the therapeutic powers of gardening written in a surprisingly easy-to-read style.
