Is there any funding available for peatland restoration projects?
The Heritage Council administer the Biodiversity Fund which provides funding for management that improves habitats and wildlife. For more information see www.heritagecouncil.ie or e-mail grants@heritagecouncil.ie.

Funding may also be available through the Rural Environmental Protection Scheme or Agrienvironment Scheme. See www.agriculture.gov.ie for more details.

Is there a co-ordinating group for peatland restoration projects in Ireland?
Yes, a group exists within the Irish Peat Society which is affiliated to the International Peat Society. The secretariat for this group is Dr. Catherine Farrell (catherine.farrell@bnm.ie).
