The Irish Peatland Conservation Council actively promotes environmental education and in particular the study of peat and bogs in schools. Since 2004, we have opened our own centre of excellence for peatland and environmental education at the Bog of Allen Nature Centre, Lullymore, Rathangan, Co. Kildare. Programmes of study for primary and post primary students are available at the centre. Please read more about the centre here Bog of Allen Nature Centre Education Programmes Each year we organise a series of in-service courses for teachers and instructors from education centres. We are committed to training 100 teachers annually. The courses IPCC run provide a tremendous opportunity to give individual attention to participating teachers, and to provide resources, skills, guidance and stimuli to allow them to successfully introduce bog studies to their classes. Over the years IPCC have published a variety of general and curriculum based resources that study the ecology of peat and bogs and the issues concerned with their conservation and development. These materials for both primary, secondary and advanced level teachers, the general public and researchers. In addition we publish and distribute an Education Services catalogue to teachers twice a year. This contain publications, videos, tapes, packs and games focusing on bogs and a range of environmental topics. You can obtain a free copy of this catalogue by clicking here and requesting a copy Alternatively you can see many of the products we offer via our Enviro Shop online here Enviro Shop - Charity Card, Gifts & Education Resources Catalogue
