Tax Relief on Donations to Eligible Charities

If you have made a donation or multiple donations to help support IPCC's vital work - worth more than Euro 250 in the last year - and are an Irish PAYE tax payer, then IPCC could be able to reclaim the tax you paid on this donation from the tax man, making your generous gift go even further.

At the start of the 2001 tax year the Department of Finance in Ireland introduced a scheme whereby eligible charities (of which IPCC is one) could claim back tax paid by supporters on their donations provided the supporter is a PAYE tax payer in Ireland and provided the amount of the donation(s) in any one tax year is Euro 250 or more.

So your Euro 250 donation to support IPCC vital work to Save the Bogs could be worth as much as Euro 431.03 if you are paying tax at the 42% rate, and are in PAYE. Even if you pay tax at 20% the Euro 250 donation would still be worth Euro 316.50 to us, if we can reclaim the tax.

To allow IPCC to obtain the tax back that you paid on your donation the Revenue Commissioners require PAYE tax payers to complete a simple certificate and return it to IPCC (copies available from IPCC on request if you would like to email us). All the information will be dealt with in the strictest confidence. Once we obtain your completed form from you we submit all the documents to the Revenue Commissioners who will credit us with the tax you paid on the original donation amount. It is as simple as that.

If you are not a PAYE tax payer in Ireland the scheme does not, unfortunately, apply to you.

For supporters on self-assessment tax, it is the supporter who reclaims the tax. So remember to do this at the end of the tax year.
