Join the Clean-Up of Lodge Bog, Making it a Litter Free Zone

Help the IPCC take part in National Spring Clean Month

April is National Spring Clean month and the Irish Peatland Conservation Council are looking for volunteers to come along to the Bog of Allen Nature Centre on Tuesday 12th April to join the Clean Up of Lodge Bog, Making it a Litter Free Zone.
Lodge Bog is located along the R414 a busy road linking Allenwood and Rathangan villages in County Kildare.  It is an example of a raised bog habitat that supports wonderful wildlife including insect eating sundew plants, hares, bog cottons and the curlew.  Peatlands are a nutrient poor landscape and littering can cause harm to the wildlife of the bog, increases the risk of fire in the Summer and can change the nutrient balance of the bog.
Although recyclable unfortunately alluminium cans, wrappers and paper coffee and tea cups are often disgarded by drivers from cars along the edge of the bog.  Take action for peatlands and their wildlife on April 12th by joining staff at the Bog of Allen Nature Centre at 10am to make Lodge Bog a litter free zone.  If you would like to get involved contact the Bog of Allen Nature Centre on 045-860133.
