Friend of the Bog Gift
By enrolling someone as a Friend of the Bog, you will be
helping the IPCC work to make people aware of the wildlife, culture
and heritage of our bogs. 80% of Ireland's bogs have been modified
by man. IPCC have an action plan to save the remaining 20% which
involves having sites designated for conservation, ensuring that
planning activity favours bogs and seeking funds from Government
to restore damaged bogs. Friends of the Bog receive a welcome
pack, car sticker, two copies of Peatland News in the year, have
free access to the Bog of Allen Nature Centre in Kildare and
to six peatland reserves in our care around the country. This
is a gift that will last a whole year and will get people out
and about enjoying wetland wildlife.

Adopt a Marsh Fritillary
The marsh fritillary, once a relatively common butterfly of damp
unimproved grasslands is now one of the most endangered Irish
butterflies. Their conservation status of the butterfly is poor
due to inadequate population size, poor quality habitat and a
lack of appropriate management of habitat for the species. At
IPCC's reserve at Lullymore West Bog in Co. Kildare we are monitoring
the population of marsh fritillary each year. Your gift of 20
Euro will help us to create a more stable environment for these
stunning insects and prevent a decline in their population through
appropriate management of the reserve. You will receive a thank
you card with further information and a visitor guide to Lullymore
West Bog.

Help Repair a Bog
Protecting endangered raised bog habitat depends on
getting the water table as close to the surface of the peat as
possible. Every drain on the bog must be blocked with dams to
really get restoration going.
Your gift of 32 Euro will allow us to purchase 2m of Geoflex
drain piling which will help volunteers to build a dam in a drain
on IPCC's Lodge Bog Reserve in Kildare. We have over 2km of drains
to block on this reserve. The effect of drain blocking is dramatic
and so very good for the bog and its wildlife. You will receive
a thank you card with
further information and a visitor guide to Lodge Bog.

Protect a Frog
Frogs are barometers of wetland health. Each year the IPCC promotes
the Hop to It Irish Frog Survey which returns valuable information
on the distribution, breeding success, habitat preferences and
threats to Irish frogs. This long term record allows IPCC to
work with scientists who are researching and monitoring the status
of frogs in Ireland. You can help support IPCC's long term frog
survey by donating 15 Euro and help these fascinating animals.
You will receive a thank you card and a copy of the Hop To It
Frog Book which is crammed full of froggy facts and information.
