IPCC Cotton Shopper Bags - the Smart Choice this Year

For release 6 February 2002

On the 19th December 2001 Noel Dempsey TD the Minister for the Environment
signed the plastic bags regulations. This will come into effect on the 4th
March this year.

From that date all POINT OF SALE plastic bags will be charged to the
customer at 15 cents each. It is hoped that this initiative will help reduce
the pollution problems caused by the scourge of the plastic bag - and get
people to recycle their plastic bags more or use a shopping bag!

So with March just over the horizon - it's time you got yourself organised
with some sturdy, light weight unbleached cotton shopper bags from the IPCC.
Not only will you beat the bag tax - you'll also be helping to spread the
Save the Bogs Campaign message.
