Bog of Allen Project Manager

The Irish Peatland Conservation Council intends to purchase
the former
Peatland World Centre at Lullymore, Rathangan, Co. Kildare. The
aims of the
IPCC are:
To locate our head quarters at this location within the Bog of
Allen
To develop indoor and outdoor education and public awareness
displays on
peatlands and environmental issues at the project and
To create a commercially viable conservation project and
centre of
excellence in Co. Kildare.
The buildings cover 8,000 square feet and are located on 2
acres of land.
Initially the buildings and grounds will require renovation and
upgrading of
services. Subsequently, habitat creation projects and the development
of
education and public awareness exhibits will be undertaken.
The Irish Peatland Conservation Council is seeking a person
to fill a
contract post as Bog of Allen Project Manager within the organisation
commencing in autumn 2003. The contract will include, but will
not
necessarily be limited to, the following duties:
o working with IPCC Board of Directors and staff on the
preparation of
business and development plans for the Bog of Allen Project
o fundraising to meet the costs of the development plan for
the Bog of
Allen Project
o marketing of the Bog of Allen Project
o supervising building and grounds clearance at Bog of Allen
Project
o supervising the installation of services at the Bog of Allen
Project
o managing the Bog of Allen project budget
o welcoming IPCC supporters and sponsors to the Bog of Allen
Project
o liaison with press media on the promotion of the Bog of
Allen Project
o recruiting, co-ordinating and training volunteers and staff
o prepare and execute an annual reserve management plan for
the Bog of
Allen Project
o assisting with design and implementation of visitor access
and outdoor
exhibitions at the Bog of Allen Project
o handling enquiries from the general public
o participating in IPCC outreach education programmes at the
project
o Bog of Allen Project building and grounds maintenance, keyholder
and
security
The successful applicant will have relevant fundraising and
PR experience,
excellent organisational and management skills, marketing, project
supervision and management, networking skills, a proven record
to deliver
results and an interest and understanding of environmental issues.
The candidate will be expected to work from IPCC's head office
Bog of Allen
Project, Lullymore, Co Kildare on a daily basis. Full time 24
month contract
to include annual leave entitlement. Contract value Euro 35k
per annum,
plus incentives and work related expenses.
