Gro-Bric - The Natural Alternative to Peat

For release 12th May 2000

Make this the year you go PEAT FREE in your garden. Grow Brics are a popular peat alternative that are made from 100% recycled coconut fibres. Each bric makes 10 litres (a bucket full) of compost simply by adding water. Ideal for hanging baskets, window boxes, seed germination or propagating cuttings.

In its on-going campaign to persuade gardeners to switch from using peat which destroys wild boglands, the Irish Peatland Conservation Council is encouraging the use of Gro-Bric, a 100% natural renewable peat-free product. Each Gro-Bric, which is just half the size of a shoe box, makes about 10 litres of multi-purpose compost by just adding water.

Gro-Brics are made from coir waste left over from the coconut industry and are ideal as a peat free compost substitute. Coir makes an ideal seed germination medium and is ideal (when mixed with well rotted compost) as a growing medium for container plants and hanging baskets.
The IPCC constantly campaigns for the protection of all important peatlands remaining in Ireland. Many of our raised bogs are threatened by the extraction of moss peat for use in the garden. By gardening without peat and supporting the IPCC the wild plants and animals which depend on bogs can be saved.

For a trial pack of Gro-Brics direct to you home fill in the form below and send together with you payment to IPCC, 119 Capel Street, Dublin 1, or phone/fax your order to 8722397.
