Gro-Bric - The Natural Alternative to Peat

For release 29th April 1998

In its on-going campaign to persuade gardeners to switch from using peat which destroys wild boglands, the Irish Peatland Conservation Council is encouraging the use of Gro-Bric, a 100% natural renewable peat-free product.

Each Gro-Bric, which is just half the size of a shoe box, makes about 10 litres of multi-purpose compost by just adding water.

Gro-Brics are made from coir waste left over from the coconut industry and are ideal to dig into the garden to break down soil and provide a compost and conditioner with increased moisture retention that lasts for years.

The IPCC constantly campaigns for the protection of all important peatlands remaining in Ireland. Many of our raised bogs are threatened by the extraction of moss peat for use in the garden. By gardening without peat and supporting the IPCC the wild plants and animals which depend on bogs can be saved.

For more information on the 11 Irish suppliers of peat free gardening alternatives write to IPCC at 119 Capel Street, Dublin 1 and ask for its free "Gardening Without Peat" brochure.

Or for a trial pack of three Gro-Brics direct to you home send a cheque, postal order or credit card details for £9.99 (to cover 3 Gro-Brics and P&P) to IPCC, 119 Capel Street, Dublin 1, or phone/fax your order to 8722397. The offer is valid until August 1 1998.
