IPCC Bogland Reserve: Scragh Bog Nature Reserve,
Co. Westmeath
A small Sphagnum hummock on the surface of Scragh Bog, Co
Westmeath, surrounded by fen vegetation. Sphagnum hummocks such
as this demonstrate the start of the transition process from
fen to raised bog which can be observed on Scragh bog. Species
occurring on the hummock include cranberry, ling heather and
devils bit scabious.
