AUSTRALASIA
Peatlands in Australia and New Zealand cover
an area of 23,800 km². In the temperate zone of the southern
hemisphere, bogs are found in Patagonia, Tasmania, New Zealand
and the Eastern Australia highlands. The most characteristic
bog type in these regions is that of the cushion-plant bog which
does not occur elsewhere in the world.
To visit the peatlands of Australasia just
click on the country you want to visit from the list on the left
hand side.
If you have pictures
that you took of peatlands from a country not shown in our tour
that you would like to submit - why not e-mail them to Peter
Foss at info@ipcc.ie - along with a caption. I'll consider adding
them to our collection of great peatland pictures.
