Kenya

Kenya is a major peatland area within Africa. A variety of mire and swamp communities occur in Kenya. The "sedge mires" may be a distinct variant of blanket bog. These mire types are found on strongly sloping areas of Mount Kenya where they form shallow peat deposits. Some regard these mires as a type of sloping fen.
