Latvia
Peatlands originally comprised 10% of Latvia's
land area. There is no figure for the present day but it is probably
decreased due to development. Three main peatlands types are found
in Latvia; raised bog, poor and rich fens, and coastal marsh.

for peat production by a number of German companies. Species
on the bog include Crane, Golden Plover, Merlin, Sandpiper and
Wolf.
