Poland

In Poland peatlands cover an area of 311,940 km². Of this fens account for 92% of the peatland area. Raised and transitional bogs also occur. By 1976 protected peatlands covered an area of 5,448 ha² by the early '90's there were plans to include a further 9,594 ha².
