Sweden

More than 25% of Sweden is covered by peat, occupying an area of 66,690 km². Sweden has three peatland types-ombrotrophic (rain fed) raised bog, minerotrophic (ground water fed) horizontal mixed mires and minerotrophic slightly sloping fens. 2,900 km² of peatland are protected in national parks and reserves in Sweden.
